Botox at 30! It is unthinkable!

Well I would tell you to start thinking about it…

The first signs of aging:

Over time, all faces and skin types eventually age. With age, cell renewal slows down, the production of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid decreases, the skin becomes thinner and loses its elasticity. This environment favors the formation of wrinkles, which appear mainly on the face, neck and hands, the most exposed areas of the body.

The first signs of aging seem harmless and some even say they are “cute”. Indeed a small crow’s feet gives a look and the wrinkle of the rabbit gives a mischievous look. The key to success is simply knowing how to maintain this look without ruining the life of your future self!

For example, did you know that the sun you get today will be your nightmare tomorrow? Yes, your beautiful tanned complexion of your thirty years prepares the ground for beautiful sunspots in a few years. Your alcohol consumption could exacerbate the appearance of unsightly redness. Do you always forget to drink water? Your dehydration will definitely cost you a few extra folds!

Okay, so we stop living and having fun? That, never!

Here we talk!

There is a fine line between treating prematurely and preventing the signs of aging. The important thing is not to get lost in the tide of marketing messages that surround us and to rely on trusted sources when doing your research. Dr Google is very handy but not always a reliable source. One thing is certain, it is much more difficult and expensive to treat a frank wrinkle than to prevent it with an effective and affordable care routine!

First, what are the sources of skin aging:

  • Genetics and heredity (look closely at dad, mom or your grandparents)
  • Unprotected exposure to the sun
  • Smoking and alcohol
  • Repeated facial expressions
  • Environmental factors, such as pollution and extreme temperature fluctuations
  • Poor lifestyle such as dehydration and junk food

Wrinkles, fine lines, dilated pores, sagging skin are therefore the result of one or more of the points listed above. Let’s see them in a bit more detail:

Dynamic wrinkles

These wrinkles are caused by the repeated contraction of the muscles under the skin and are found mainly in the upper part of the face; we are talking here about crow’s feet, frown lines and rabbit lines.

How to prevent them:
  • Having an appropriate skincare regimen for your skin type that includes SPF
  • Using neuromodulators to reduce the muscle contraction that creates these wrinkles before they set in permanently (i.e. at rest)
How to treat them (a combination of treatment is often needed):
  • Having an appropriate skincare regimen for your skin type.
  • Using neuromodulators to reduce the muscle contraction that creates these wrinkles
  • Mesotherapy treatments including infusions of vitamin C and hyaluronic acid
  • Laser and pulsed light treatments

Static wrinkles

These wrinkles are rather caused by the progressive reduction of collagen in the skin and fatty cushions which serve to structure the face. We find this type of wrinkles especially in the cheeks and the lower part of the face such as smile lines and puppet folds.

How to prevent them:
  • Having an appropriate skincare regimen for your skin type including a good SPF
  • Meso-injection and/or microneedling treatments including infusions of vitamins, hyaluronic acid and or PRP
  • Laser and pulsed light treatments
How to treat them (a combination of treatment is required):
  • Having an appropriate skincare regimen for your skin type.
  • Hyaluronic acid filler injections
  • Laser treatments
  • Meso-injection and/or microneedling treatments including infusions of vitamins, hyaluronic acid and/or PRP

Loss of volume

From the early thirties, we usually notice a decrease in the production of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid which manifests itself in a lack of deep volume and an overall sagging of the face creating the famous jowls or “bulldog” cheeks and the legendary Gooseneck!

How to prevent it:
  • It is unavoidable; we will all lose volume in the face. The first signs are often on the cheeks and dark circles.
  • Maintain with small amounts of fillers at the first signs
How to treat it (a combination of treatment is necessary):
  • Having an appropriate skincare regimen for your skin type including a good SPF
  • Hyaluronic acid and/or calcium hydroxylapatite fillers
  • Beauty treatments firming laser and other technologies such as radio frequency

Spots and redness

In a nutshell; they are simply defense mechanisms that your body has created to protect you from the sun and free radicals! We will discuss this at length in another article. Unfortunately, some spots are of hormonal type such as melasma are inevitable but sunscreen and minimal exposure to the sun is always the best way to contain them!

How to prevent them:
  • Have an appropriate skincare regimen for your skin type including a good SPF
  • Pulsed light or laser treatments such as YAG as soon as the first signs appear
How to treat them (a combination of treatment is necessary):
  • Have an appropriate skincare regimen for your skin type including a good SPF
  • Pulsed light or laser treatments such as YAG as soon as the first signs appear
  • Chemical peels
  • cryotherapy
  • Photo-acoustic laser

Texture change

Enlarged pores, fine lines, loss of radiance and uneven skin tone are all also present. They are explained in particular by a slowdown in cell regeneration of the skin, which means that we have fewer and fewer beautiful new cells on the surface! Other factors like acne can create long-term spots and scars.

How to prevent them:
  • Have an appropriate skincare regimen for your skin type including a good SPF
  • Pulsed light or laser treatments such as YAG at the first signs
  • Microneedling (also called microneedling) with or without personalized serums
  • “Vampire” facial to PRP
How to treat them (a combination of treatment is necessary):
  • Have an appropriate skincare regimen for your skin type including a good SPF
  • Pulsed light or laser treatments such as YAG at the first signs
  • Chemical peels
  • Photo-acoustic laser
  • Microneedling with personalized serums
  • “Vampire” facial to PRP

It is now clear that the prevention of skin aging is done by…. “an appropriate skincare regimen for your skin type including a good SPF”

The 3 “musts” for an effective beauty routine.

Step 1 – Always wear SPF 30+ (must protect against UVA/UVB)

Be sure to choose a plan that suits your needs; if the objective is to combine sun protection and a BB cream effect; we opt for a tinted sunscreen. If your skin is prone to acne, there are non-comedogenic products suitable for you. Don’t like 14-step morning routines? (me neither…) there are good sun creams combined with a very effective anti-aging treatment! In short, today there are sunscreens suitable for ALL skin types… So there are no more excuses!

Stage 2 – Harness the power of antioxidants, like topical vitamin C and vitamin A.

It’s not for nothing that antioxidants have been an essential part of anti-aging products since the beginning of time: when properly added to your routine, the benefits and improvements they can bring are visible. Not only can a vitamin C serum help protect your skin from environmental damage, like pollution, it can also transform dull skin and uneven skin tone into luminous, glowing skin that looks rejuvenated and even-toned. Vitamin A is recognized worldwide as one of the best anti-aging treatments and is very effective against acne! Be careful not to confuse retinol and retinoic acid. Retinol is a great ingredient but never as penetrating and effective as a prescription vitamin A/retinoic acid.

Step 3 – Hydrate your skin with proven ingredients like hyaluronic acid.

Hyaluronic acid is a must when it comes to hydration! It plumps and accelerates skin repair. Thanks to its great moisturizing power, it reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, while improving the hydration and texture of the skin… It is not for nothing that it is the main ingredient of fillers dermal!
